Born in Lebanon, Elie Saab is a self-taught designer whose interest in dressmaking started when he was eight years old, draping and sewing his mother’s clothes. Founding and establishing his atelier in Beirut, he was invited to show a Haute Couture collection in Paris in 2000, where he has shown since. His work is inspired by his upbringing, trading on high fantasy – feminine, fairy story dresses made to magnify the female form.
