Dsquared2: Menswear AW19

With drinks flowing and beats pounding, Dean and Dan Caten presented their music-infused vision for Dsquared2 AW19. But forget about your regular seated catwalk show. This season, it was all about shaking things up, saving front rows for die-hard fans – just like musicians do at their gigs. And in many ways, Dean and Dan truly are rockstars of the fashion scene, with possibly the most passionate fans, covered head-to-toe in their logos and the half-utilitarian, half-sexy garments.
For the season to come though, these fans will be dressed in the best of music genres, as evident from last night’s show. Disco came through in the sequined dresses, punk with the slashed band tees and tartan shirts, hip-hop with the elasticated boxers peeking through… It was a mix of the most eclectic Spotify playlist, all rolled into a loud, ready-to-wear fantasy. Remember those viciously fabulous sky-high heeled trainers from last season? This season was a tad bit more practical – a pair of knee-high peep-toe boots with a tiny purse attached to the side, kinda ideal for all those festival-goers that want to keep their dearest possessions close to them. The boys sticked with their signature hiking boot, keeping in with the Canadian heritage infusion. The ski slope or the concert hall? Who cares.

For several seasons now, Dsquared2 have been showing in a co-ed environment, and with a brand vision as clear as theirs – it makes total sense. Their clothes, despite clearly being divided by gender, come from the same place and are made for the same type of customer. The Dsquared2 couple is truly a couple – whether best friends or in a romantic relationship, their devotion to the brand is stronger than anything else. Those who Dsquared2 together, stay together.
