Moschino Take Their Resort 2018 Collection To Los Angeles
To borrow from the Madonna songbook: everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody comes to Hollywood. Which may have been a little exaggeration, but last night it came pretty close as the fashion masses headed westwards for Moschino’s Resort 2018 show. Jeremy Scott is an American designer at an Italian house, but here he it was all about the former – inspired by the state of California, namely, the experience of driving between LA and Vegas. I did the drive myself once. Which sounds quite fabulous but I was fifteen, with my family and in a rental mini van. It was sweaty.
And, talking of sweat, this was a collection that brilliantly dripped (perspired?) with every cliche you associate with the two cities – cars, cowboys, pin-up girls and um… Spongebob Squarepants? Whatever – it worked. It feels a bit pared back – wait, that’s not quite the right word – it’s Jeremy Scott and Moschino, after all, but there was something that felt easy-going and light – sheer dresses and itsy-bitsy bottoms for him and her. Very Resort, very vacation, very “I’ve paid $9 for a Motel on Route 66 and wanna party.” Stand out look? Model Teddy Quinlivan rocking a casual hoodie and jeans combo paired with a yellow feather boa and tiny black snakeskin cowboy hat – the perfect look for gambling away your sugar daddy’s life savings.
