Vetements: Menswear AW18

We’re going to call this morning after the night before dressing. Have you ever seen me drag my sorry carcass to a newsagent on a hangover? Coat over pyjamas, jumper with a hole, food stuck in hair, scarf over hair to conceal trapped food, sunglasses to hide face… you get the picture. It’s not pretty. But then, that’s me, and Vetements most definitely did not design me. If only I ever looked this good. This was a melting pot of references. Which is kind of fitting seeing as it was staged in the bowels of the Marche Paul Bert antique market. Camouflage, tartan, street wear and tailoring, all layered over one another, and finished off with a cap, over which was a tightly wrapped scarf that wove its way round the neck. This is a hood rat with style. Crossed with a babushka of taste. And can we just mention the semi circle, flappy cut out trousers? Are they not, ever so slightly reminiscent of a mermaid’s tail? Or is that just me? Aerial so would have worn them during that brief living on land moment.
