Wooyoungmi: Menswear SS17

“Organised chaos” was the phrase Wooyoungmi designers Madame Woo and Katie Chung threw out backstage after their spring 2017 show. Maybe they’ve seen the offices of Ten Towers, as its s pretty apt description of our workplace. Anyway. The other inspiration – slightly more specific, was the conceptual American artist Sol LeWitt. It was more his Minimalist bent and less his conceptualise that inspired, translating readily to swirly-whirly re-renderings of his looped drawings into jacquards chopped into high-waisted trousers and shorts. The chaos came in the mix of garments, both in looks, and in look against look, like rifling through your wardrobe and pulling out favourite pieces to wear again. Of course, it was supremely organised. Planned. And looked great.
