All Aboard The Marni Ark, A 2018 Christmas Charity Project
Fashion trinket aficionados – this one is for you. During this past year, Marni has been releasing miniature animal sculptures along with the openings of each of their new boutiques worldwide. For Florence it was the hen, NYC’s Madison Avenue store was celebrated with a fawn, Rome got the bull, while the rooster got assigned to the new Parisian store at Rue Saint Honoré. Now, as the holiday season approaches, the Italian fashion house is re-releasing the animal bunch with the addition of the donkey and the pig completing the full Marni Ark.
But the project is not just for it’s fabulous looking self – the sales of the limited edition pieces are funding the La Casa Sull’Abero, an Italian charity supporting children and families involved in adoption and foster care in the province of Milan. The actual figures are also handmade by a community of women in eastern Columbia, entirely out of paper maché with the addition of coloured beading. Their surrealist quality reflects Francesco Russo’s dedication to a fantasy-like visual discourse and therefore makes the perfect Christmas present for all the Marni heads out there. As they start dropping in stores and online in December, bare in mind – gotta catch ’em all.
The Marni Ark animals will be available in boutiques and on marni.com starting from December 2018.
