On Your Marks, Get Set, Go – Balenciaga Track launches at Selfridges
Listen up Balenciaga fans and sneaker heads, we have great news but you’ll have to move fast. After their first appearance on Balenciaga’s AW18 runway earlier this year, the Track line goes on sale today. Yep you heard us, today. Get yourself down to the Selfridges Corner Shop where the line will be launching with an installation take over with artworks by American artist Mark Jenkins. Known for his sculptural street installations, which uncannily interact with their surrounding environment and passersby, Jenkins transposes his work from the bustling street to the bustling floor of the London-based department store.
The artist has created 18 states, male and female, in a range of different body sizes and fixed in a variety of poses, all dressed head-to-toe in – you guessed it – the exclusive new Balenciaga collection. Designed by artistic director, Demna Gvasalia, high-performance elements of hiking and running gear are embedded into the new sneakers. Fashionable and functional. So you better fasten your shoelaces to get your hands on the tees and hoodies bearing the new Track logo or a pair of the new high-tech track sneakers, as they’ll be gone before you can say “On your marks. Get set. Go!”.
