Cynthia Nixon Is Running For Governor Of New York City
Forget Oprah and Kanye West for President, Cynthia Nixon is officially running for Governor of New York City. Finally, some serious celeb political action. Miranda Hobbes in all her suit-wearing boss lady-ness would be proud. Apparently Cynthia is just like any other true New Yorker through and through. She takes her kids to a public school and rides the subway. Normal people things. “Our leaders are letting us down,” she says in her campaign video. “We are now the most unequal state in the entire country with both incredible wealth and extreme poverty. Half the kids in our upstate city live below the poverty line. How did we let this happen?” Good question, Cynth. New Yorkers obviously need her leadership. She knows what’s up. “I love New York. I’ve never wanted to live anywhere else but something has to change. We want our government to work again on healthcare, ending mass incarceration, fixing our broken subways. We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us.” True that. We aren’t New Yorkers but we suddenly feel a part of the fight. Anything for Miranda. “I’m Cynthia Nixon, I’m a New Yorker and together we can win this fight.” Boom. Power to the people. Celebrities really can do anything.
