Gucci Reveal Their Support For Next Month’s March On Gun Control In Washington
Who said that high-end luxury fashion was insulated and out of touch with the real world? Certainly not us, but whoever did, you’re wrong. So, so wrong. Just look at the good people of Gucci, who recently unveiled their student protest themed Pre Fall campaign and have now donated an eye-watering $500,000 in support of the March for Our Lives rally on gun control, to be staged in Washington next month. The decision to support reform is a personal one for Gucci, who tragically lost one of its employees and had another seriously wounded in the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.
Even at this early stage, it is forecast that over half a million people will be in attendance of the demonstration, held on 24th March and organised by survivors of the Majory Stoneman High School shooting in Florida earlier this month. “I am truly moved by the courage of these students” said Alessandro Michele told WWD. “My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come.” Indeed they are, and if they are ever going to initiate real change in this debate that we Brits have helplessly witness rage on for so many years, there’s no doubt they need all the help they can get.
