FROM THE VAULT (SUMMER 2011)
Let’s not be so naïve as to suggest that every show is “great”, “super” and “fab”. Every show is not. So, we look to designers like Raf Simons and his incredibly successful interpretation of Jil Sander to give us the new ideas we want – and product. Come on, this is the truth: raspberry, lime and orange knitwear, especially (now worn with black, now worn layered). That parka could be the nicest coat we’ve set our eyes on in seasons, too: black, slightly military and fluoro pink hood. It almost sounds odd to talk about Raf’s work in purely product terms, but his work is all the more valid this season because the theory translates so well into the product – the point, surely?
