Kent and Curwen: : London Collections: Men Spring/Summer 2015, Backstage Boys
I want to say that this collection brings together 50s rockabilly and the clothing worn by the Spanish matadors but maybe that sounds too obscure. The winklepicker boots and aviators bow a nod to Elvis Presley et al and yet the riding gloves and a couple of the jackets (called chaquetillas according to Wikipedia), do that same to the Spanish bullfighters. But what would we call this mixture? The matabilly? Or perhaps the rockador? Of course of the bulk of the collection consists of Kent and Curwen’s unique take on traditional British apparel. But you can’t deny the matabilly twist.
