Olivier Theyskens To Show Again Under His Own Name In Paris
This is a bit like The Comeback, short-lived HBO sitcom starring Lisa Kudrow, being, as it, is about a comeback. Except actually not at all. Because Valerie Cherish was an unsuccessful ageing actress and Olivier Theyskens is a supremely talented designer of magical clothing for women. Yep, he’s back and showing under his own name at Paris fashion week in September. Apparently, Mr Theyskens had been preparing the comeback for over two years, working with a small team in Paris and a production team in Italy. “It’s a magical, extremely artistic approach,” he told Business of Fashion in an interview. “I personally never understood the phrase demi-couture. My fuel is what I imagine a woman, a girl, would want to wear, want to find. I always embrace couture, as well as the reality of beautiful clothes. I like the mix.” With Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first Dior show and Anthony Vaccarello’s debut at Saint Laurent it’s shaping up to be quite a season. Gird ye loins, ladies and gentleman.
