Paul Smith To Be Special Guest At This Year’s Pitti Uomo
Paul Smith knows it’s always better to be the guest star. Fresh off news last week that he’ll be combining his men’s and women’s shows in a special presentation in Paris this January, he’s gone and blindsided us all (in a good way) by announcing today that he will also be serving up a second portion in Pitti Uomo as a special guest of the Florentine trade show. Taking the form of an installation, he will show both the men’s and women’s collections from his PS line. Very good news for those of you who, like us, enjoy your Mr Smith served as a strong double. But that’s not the only Pitti-based happenings to hit the interwebs today – the organisers also announced that designer Tim Coppens, who is based in New York, will be the Pitti Uomo 91 guest designer, showing for the first time in Florence. Paul and Tim will be joined by Golden Goose, who will throw a big knees up to celebrate 10 years of their signature sneaker, as well as Reebok – the sportswear powerhouse launching a line made in collaboration with Brit duo Cottweiler. Lapo Cianchi, the trade show’s communicate director said in a statement: “the special events program of the next Pitti Uomo represents for us a further step toward the abolition of the duality between trade show and fashion week and toward the discovery of new formats, combining stylistic research, communication and commercial market attention.” Congratulations to all the designers.
