WATCH: Prada Release a Short Film Trio Starring J.K. Simmons as ‘The Delivery Man’
Since her first big foray into the art of cinema, Miuccia Prada gave us some pretty major moments in both film and fashion. In 2005, she recruited blockbuster-maker Ridley Scott to create a short motion picture revolving around the launch of the brand’s first perfume. It was one of those moments that changed the way the two industries interacted, creating a whole new space for directors, actors, models and fashion designers to explore. A new genre was born. Wes Anderson, David O. Russell and Roman Coppola have all been name-checked since that first instalment of Prada’s filmography, each furthering the visual narrative of the brand, aligning what we see on the screen with what Mrs Prada showed on the catwalk. And today, the latest sequel to Prada’s Hollywood dream has arrived.
Titled The Delivery Man, the new film triptych directed by Ryan Hope stars Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as the titular character, a mysterious man on the go with places to go and Prada boxes to deliver. We get couriers on the daily, and never has a man so sharp delivered a set of samples to Ten Towers. Is that just us? Each of the three short films co-stars a strong female character, each interpreted by Pom Klementieff, Sasha Lane and Bahia Gold, all wearing the best of Prada’s AW18. Different in their own way, yet there’s one thing these women have in common. They are in desperate need of a Cahier bag. Guess what? So are we.
