In news that broke this morning, Pringle of Scotland have announced Fran Stringer as the brand’s new Womenswear Design Director, a role tailor-made just for her. Stringer, who already is working at Pringle, will be working alongside Massimo Nicosia, who will now shift his focus solely to the male species as Menswear Design Director. And, like the best kind of fashion marriage, they’ll share joint creative control of the brand. “To become part of the team of Pringle of Scotland is a perfect merger; I’ve always been attracted to brands with a rich heritage and a historical sense,” Stringer said. “The two hundred years of Pringle are a great source of inspiration for me. It’s an honour to play a role in the brand development and to work with a team of great talent and experience”. Pringle chief exec Jean Fang added: “We are delighted to be able to expand our design team to allow both Massimo and Fran more time to dedicate to the development of the men’s and women’s seasonal collections, as well as working together on brand projects and image.” And the good news? There’s not long to wait until Stringer will be peddling her wares – her first collection proper will be shown during London Fashion Week at the Serpentine Gallery. Congratulations Fran!
