Whilst we try to control our pant-wettingly high levels of excitement for Raf Simons’ debut collection at Calvin Klein, the fashion gods have delivered a morsel of Raf-based news to briefly satiate our appetites. Yes, in an announcement yesterday evening, Raf revealed that next season he would be moving his own-label show Stateside, from Paris to New York. The move will mark his first own label show outside of Europe (last season he presented his SS17 collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence), showing his AW17 collection as part of CFDA New York Fashion Week: Mens. Makes sense – Raf now calls the city home since taking the helm at Calvin Klein. Handy. The February men’s shows in New York shows will see Raf join Michael Kors, Coach and Tommy Hilfiger, as well as of several the city’s younger, emerging labels. Even so, getting Simons on board is a big deal for the young fashion week – as Stephen Kolb, chief exec of the CFDA, said to BoF: “Raf will bring a new level of creativity and energy to New York Fashion Week: Men’s and we are excited to have him join this important platform for American menswear.”
