Saint Laurent Are Bringing ‘Self’ to Art Basel in Miami, Courtesy of Vanessa Beecroft

“I am what I am. I am my own special creation,” Gloria Gaynor sung in her 1983 single, preaching an unapologetic, self-celebratory approach to life. And yes, while his vibe is a bit less disco and a bit more rock’n’roll, Anthony Vaccarello embodies this message with his irreverent outlook on fashion. High in sex-appeal and presenting a strapping level of confidence, his YSL woman is like no other – this was the thought behind Self, an ongoing art project capturing all aspects of the brand’s attitude through the eyes and hands of renowned artists from around the world. After the launch in collaboration with Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama, the second instalment of the project sees performance artist Vanessa Beecroft putting her stamp on Saint Laurent’s SS19 show. Beecroft, who has previously collabed with everyone from Miuccia Prada to Kanye West, has worked on creating a photo wall in Miami’s Design District. From December 1st to 15th and coinciding with Art Basel, the photowall (curated by Vaccarello himself) sees the Saint Laurent glamazons flaunting all they’ve got, posing in front of the Eiffel Tower, the setting of the SS19 show. And with legs like those – who needs trousers?

The photo wall will be presented in Miami at Design District from 1st till 15th of December during Art Basel.
