Sonia Rykiel’s Paris Inspired AW16 Campaign

“Je m’appelle Carrie Bradshaw”. To this day, the terribly pronounced French continues to screech through our ears like nails down a blackboard. And although some of us in the office are also, as Miss Bradshaw put it, “Looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other love”, we won’t be following after the curly, cringey American fashionista in Paris and attempting to speak the language of love with a mortifyingly ignorant and irritating accent. We do, however, share her excitement and passion for this beaut city and much like hers, our faces light up with joy each time we arrive for fashion week. So yes, we will admit we do indeed have things in common with Carrie. Not that any of us are American. Fashionistas yes, devoted followers of fashion too. I suppose we are by default. Anyway, is there anything more French than a stripy garment in the colours of the French flag? Ever chic. And as if that wasn’t French enough, models tower over us in front of a replica Eiffel Tower for Sonia Rykiel’s AW16 campaign. Erika Eiffel (née Labrie), would surely be jealous. For those of you who don’t know, Erika married the Eiffel Tower in 2007. She felt an immediate attraction to the 7,300 ton iron lattice after her first encounter with it in 2004. But how on earth would she feel about witnessing these two lovely ladies leaning on, lounging around, and looking smoking in front of her beloved? Perhaps the couple are unhappily married? Maybe that dreaded seven year itch is proving just too strong to ignore. Has Glen Luchford captured an affair? Cover your eyes Erika! The controversy is more than we can bear. Unless they have an open relationship. But then again everyone knows you should never allow a party hotter than yourself into the mix. Not to say that Erika is not an attractive lady, but I can imagine having to compete with a pair of Sonia clad models would be a challenging prospect for just about anyone.
