As far as our favourite collaborations of 2017 are concerned, it’s difficult to get much beyond Gosha Rubchinskiy x Burberry. A wondrous meeting of two worlds that saw a cross pollination in culture, form and style, initially previewed as part of Gosha’s Spring 2018 show in St. Petersburg, the collection will be arriving in stores on 6th of January. Crank up your overdraft limits, soon those Burberry plaid ear-flap caps could be calling your head home.
Designed together with Mr. Rubchinskiy, the collection centres on those iconic Burberry pieces that have been re-interpreted via Gosha’s streetwear focused lens. While check is celebrated throughout, invoking the unmistakable lifeblood of Burberry, accompanying outerwear pieces are reimagined in typical Gosha-sized shapes. From the frankly unforgettable two tone Burberry trench, embroidered with Gosha’s initials, to the reversible Harrington, the collection seamlessly blended contrasts in heritage and history to create clothes that spanned both tradition and innovation, street and formal wear.
“Working with Christopher has been a great adventure” said Rubchinskiy of the collection. “Burberry has always symbolised the epitome of classic British style to me. Their timeless pieces are the perfect balance to our modern streetwear creating a great mix. Our extended collaboration, from my SS18 collection to Burberry’s ‘Here We Are’ Zine and exhibition, really embodies what I feel is British culture today, a mix of iconic pieces and youth”.
Arriving in stores this Saturday, keep an eye out for us – we’ll be the ones at the front of the queue.
