Another day, another collaboration that we’ll now be frantically saving up for. Well, we might lavish ourselves with a singular sock, given that a whole pair is forecast to set you back over 100 dollars. I mean, we’re only feeling a bit bitter about it because it’s almost guaranteed to be one of the spiciest collabs of the year – and that’s exactly how we like our fashions at Ten. The news was officially confirmed by Mr. Hilfiger’s Insta post this weekend, but people were already talking (by which, we mean us) after Vetements released their SS18 lookbook ft. a few cheeky Tommy inserts that hinted rather heavily at what was to come.
So, what can we expect from this particular fashion union? Word on the street (WWD said so) is that the collection will follow the unisex path well trodden by Vetements, which means more oversize hoodies and t-shirts ranging in hues of grey heather, navy, red and fuchsia, as well as some beanies and aforementioned socks. It feels as though Tommy H have pulled off somewhat of a collaborative coup with this one, something that was all but confirmed by Mr. Hilfiger himself in an interview with WWD, “The fact that a disruptive designer like Demna would want to do something with our brand is a tremendous compliment…It’s luxe streetwear. Nobody does it better than these guys”. True that.
