Dolce & Gabbana: Ready-to-wear SS16

Dolce & Gabbana is as Italian as a slice of pizza. And not the sort you get in Tesco – oh no – Dolce & Gabbana would be slice of fresh stonebajed from a hidden backstreet of Napoli. So, how better to celebrate another collection in their world than taking us on a Roman holiday? Actually, scrap Roman, a whistlestop tour across the entire country. “Italia is love” was the defining message, stitched on to the opening look. It was these embellishments on the dresses that provided the story – the leaning tower of Pisa, the Vatican, a sequinned Coliseum, Michelangelo’s David – all showing Dolce & Gabbana’s unwavering pride in their birthplace and our touristic tendencies. At the end, the models walked out in 1950s postcard dresses, set to booming sounds of ‘That’s Amore’. And what do tourists do? Selfies of course. So that’s what the models did. Bella Italia!
