Nina Ricci: Ready-to-wear SS16
“I’d love men to fall in love with the Nina Ricci woman” said Guillaume Henry of his Spring collection for the brand. And fall in love they are bound to. For how could they not? In that plunging leather trench, cinched at the waist and worn as a dress, that opened the show – she has the dangerous appeal of femme fatale. Like Romy Schneider, the woman that was the inspiration behind the collection. She was nicknamed the “Fatal Shadow,” after all. This is a woman who has a taste for fine fabric – structured patent, little sprays of feathering, peek-a-boo sheers, perfectly crumpled separates. And, whilst there was plenty of sex appeal – there was also a sense of power. For when that man falls in love with the Ricci woman, there’s no guarantee that she will fall in love back. She’s probably already on to the next.
