Bottega Veneta: Ready-to-wear AW16

Tomas Maier is a very clever man – who showed a very clever Bottega Veneta collection for winter 2016, of everything from slick narrow suits through to chic chiffon dresses and pleaty stuff in-between. He’s clever enough to have plenty to say about his own collection, which is better than anything we could come up with. “It’s about a silhouette that’s long and lean, with a softness and movement that is sensuous. Knits embrace the body, like a private experience for the wearer,” said Mr Maier. “I like it when effects are not so obvious. Something that’s usually very fancy doesn’t need to be. It can be done differently.” We like fancy, admittedly – but we like different too. And finally he told us it was all wearable, and about real lives. We’d quite like it to be our lives. And we’d really like to wear everything.
