Bottega Veneta: Ready-to-Wear AW18

We’re calling it Lounge Bottega, in the most civilised, clean, classy way a lounge can be. It was a luxurious residential set designed by Scott Parker. Mid century modern for the rich kids of New York City in their slinkiest Bottega Veneta. Desirable. Mega wealth with a little bit of urban vroom. The energy of New York City is getting to Tomas Maier. Well, Bottega Veneta did just open their largest store in the world on Madison Avenue. We like a bit of NYC adrenaline fuelling a fabulously lavish collection. And so inside the American Stock Exchange the women walked out in sinuous movement, jumpsuits pyjama style shining and so sleek. Luxe.

Like the lyrics to the beat that moved the ladies forward, “Girls wanna drink wine, tell the man not to waste your time, if the man broke, the man he a joke, so you’ve got to get loose with the henney and the Coke.” Inspirational. There were retro hints in the patchwork and drop waists which oozed into the setting situated in the middle of the runway. The models, off to drink their Hennessy and coke, took up residence on mid-century Italian pieces by Gio Ponti, and Gianfranco Frattini’s “Sesame” chairs for Cassini. The boys were also in tow, dressed in hints of animal print, plaid and workwear style jackets. Easy does it, all with an air of ‘whatever’. Boomtown. It was the luxury of slouching, coats hung loose and comfortably and fine velvet dropped over bodies, made sexier paired with tough but chic ankle boots. This is how New Yorkers do it. The life we want to be living.
