Chloé: Ready-to-wear AW16
The Chloe girl is breezy, light, carefree. She’s physically and metaphorically into flowy- tulle-y stuff, giant sweeping skirts with a hint of the peasants French countryside about them. And what Clare Waight Keller has done, since she’s been leading the label, is inject a sense of English cool to the mix. Like teaming said floaty frocks with tracksuit tops, such as the quilted number slung over a multi-tiered blush pink number to close her winter show, the position traditionally occupied by a bride. Waight Keller is a free spirit – much like Anne-France Dautheville, who inspired this season’s offering – a fabulous Frenchwoman who travelled across Europe and the Middle East on a motorbike in the mid-seventies. Could any girl be more Chloe than that? I hope she was dressed half as well as these ones.
