Christopher Kane London Fashion Week Aw15 Backstage Girls
It started with a series of strictly tailored black jackets, with collars and pockets alternately trimmed with a deep red or royal blue velvet. The models, when emerging from the lit up beams of smoke at the top of the runway looked very severe. It kind of reminded me of a deadly lady assassin from a film who’s name escapes me at this moment. The tailoring continued with long sleeved shift dresses covered in an exaggerated zig zag before they softened into delicate organza creations with a flouncy ruffle, or waterfall effect velvet. Chainmail, hems appliqued with velvet flowers were rather mirror ball at the discotheque. Illustrations of nudes were cut out and worked round the body, with, for example, various limbs being morphed into straps for dresses.
