The creamy sunset hues, some dry air, and a lot of wind in the hair… It was a story of a true American road trip that took over the Coach SS19 show. Driving his shiny red Cadillac from NYC all the way to Santa Fe, New Mexico, Stuart Vevers brought the Mid-Western sensibilities to the big city. There were elements of old Americana that have now become synonymous with the brand – suede leather jackets, peasant smocks, and lots and lots of fringe. Yes, those were all there, but there was so much more. This time, it looked like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, got a high-fashion makeover with lots of great accessories. The clothes were sexier than usual – dresses got shorter, ruffles got bigger, and the seemingly traditional rules of gender-dressing became completely blurred. Contrasting that new-found sensual side of Coach, there were the pieces created in collaboration with Disney. What has been an ongoing collab has now finally appeared on the catwalk. But forget about Mickey or Goofy – Vevers dug a bit deeper into the pond, coming up with Dumbo and the three cats from the 1970s flick The Aristocrats. Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse were all there, celebrating this fabulous ode to all the best of USA, spiced with some dry British humour. 100% Coach, 100% Love!
