Coach: Ready-to-wear AW16
Rob Lowe in “Young Blood” – clad in his ice hockey finest – was pinned up as inspiration for Stuart Vevers’ autumn/winter 2016 Coach collection. He opened his show with a riff on Rob, patched varsity jackets slung per brief skirts or ruffled dance dresses with a hint of “Carrie” to them – that also inspired the bleached birch wood floor of the venue, like a school gymnasium seeping up the walls. What hot-stepped out though was no movie re-run. Vevers once more collided varying elements of Americana into an intoxicating melange: Nudie the Rodeo Tailor meeting buckled work-boots, in Spaceman shades of metallic blue, gold or silver. We haven’t even got above the ankles there. The rest was just as well-rendered, interestingly thought-out, and downright fun. There’s definitely a Coach girl here in NYC – and we want to be her in LDN too.
