Diane von Furstenberg: Ready-to-wear AW16
Have you ever seen The Eyes of Laura Mars, a brilliant movie with Faye Dunaway as a smashing seventies fashion photographer and all her pictures actually done by Newton? All the best bits of DVF are a bit like that – so when the Princess Von Furstenberg (her actual title, in case you didn’t know) said her autumn/winter 2016 collection wouldn’t be shown via catwalk but rather a “happening” (she sometimes called it an “experience,” which is also great and makes us think of Vue Cinemas) we got super excited and legged it to the home of DVF in the meatpacking district. It is, literally, her home – she has a flat on top of her company offices, apparently, which she kitted out this season with Stefan Beckham sets and Stephen Galloway-choreographed clutches of supermodels (Lily D obviously the favorite) to reenact scenes from the life of a woman. Clad in wrap dresses. Looking fabulous. I suspect the woman is DVF herself. She does that a lot, after all.
