DKNY: Ready-to-wear AW16
Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne are streetwise and street-smart. They’re also just plain smart, as evinced by their second collection for DKNY, where the designers ditched the office overtones of their debut and went in for the streetwear kill. The collection was focused on real clothes for real, really cool, girls, clever reworkings of basic stuff like puffer jackets, t-shirts and slouchy trousers, but injected with a fresh sense of cool. There was wit, too – they colelction’s key print wasn’t a DKNY graphic, but a simple line of text exhorting the designers to “INSERT LOGO HERE”. Do you mind if they don’t? It looked good as it is already and, ironically, could become something of a trademark for this rebranded brand.
