Remember Baby’s sister in Dirty Dancing, when she sang the Hula Hana song for that end of summer pageant? Well this had a hint of that about Peter Pilotto. It felt Hawaiian. Hawaiian crossed with Princess Leia, in that gold thing. I could be totally wrong. I mean, I’ve never seen Star Wars but I have seen the pictures and for some reason Carrie Fischer just springs to mind. Tops were wrapped around shoulders and torsos, almost bandage like and knotted in place. They were paired with long skirts made of panels of faded pastels or long denim with beaded hems. Embroidered patches, inspired by the work of artist Francis Upritchard imbued the collection with a light hippy vibe. We’re calling this Hawaii hippy ahoy. Or something like that. Maybe not.
