Rainy cityscapes got a fashionable makeover at Proenza Schouler SS19. For their New York Fashion Week comeback show, Jack McColough and Lazaro Hernandez went full-on NYC, proving exactly why they belong in the Big Apple. Their classic sharp cuts and techy silhouettes were considerably softened down, almost like they snapped the ties of constraint that were tying up these clothes. The cuts were still precise, but they had a sort of casualness and ease that isn’t always present in the Proenza Schouler universe. Perhaps this was the Paris excursion doing its magic? Whatever it was, it benefited the evolution of the brand. Undeniably an ode to their city and a great collection made for the women living in it – giant tote bags included. If this is what we’re going to look like once we the cross pond, we’re already trying to sort out our Visa to move there. Bravo!
