Roland Mouret: Resort 2019
There’s nothing that makes a winter day feels colder than a set of images filled with bright sunshine and leggy models looking warm in some slinky, utterly fabulous resortwear. And so today feels even colder than it actually is, as we scroll through the Roland Mouret Resort 2019 lookbook. Amber Witcomb and Aiden Curtis, two stellar faces are showing off perfectly draped printed dresses, lush summer knits and some great tailoring too. It’s your usual Mouret recipe, with the volume turned all the way up. The men’s and womenswear codes are permanently intertwined – silver sequins mix with Prince of Wales checks, robust mesh against a soft silk. The silhouettes of the looks continue the conversation, with the fluid lines of dresses set against the precisely-cut jackets. The collection might be inspired by the late photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue and his muse/ lover Renee Perle, but styled by our Lady Neophitou, the clothes take on her signature vision of modern-day sex-appeal. Hitting that spot between function and fashion, day and night, casual and formal. The middle-ground has never looked more fabulous.
