Ann Demeulemeester: AW16 Menswear
Think Ann Demeulemeester – now helmed by Sebastian Meunier – is all about dour, dreary black? Pallor and bones and no fun? Think again. It isn’t exactly a laughriot mind: Meunier takes his clothes seriously. So do Deneulemeester clients. For autumn/winter 2016 though, there was actually plenty of colour chez Ann D: a rich petroleum blue, ochre, splashes of red, even fuzzy lumberjack checks in fawn and sage green. Practically a rainbow. It was as surprising as it was enlivening. A seductive offering, from fashion’s black princess (and now prince) of elegance.
