Natasha Zinko x Duoltd: Ready-to-Wear SS21

It’s fair to say even a horror movie fanatic couldn’t have predicted the year we’ve had. With the presidential election just around the corner, amidst a global pandemic of nightmare proportions, 2020 makes Freddy, Jason and Chucky all look like child’s play. “Dark times call for darker fashion,” reads the press release for the Natasha Zinko x Duoltd spring/summer 2021 collection, which pastiches all your favourite scary movie tropes in an effort to show how these horror flicks are nowhere as terrifying as our everyday reality.

Giving Halloween dressing-up a touch of both refinement and twisted elegance, there’s Wednesday Adams dresses, Beetlejuice-striped silk robes and Morticia gowns with batwing sleeves (quite literally). Bats are dotted throughout the collection – whether it’s on the back of tweed coats or mohair lumberjack shirts; a signature of Duoltd. The Shining twins even make an appearance, clad in baby doll dresses in pretty florals. Zinko made the collection during lockdown with her teenage son Ivan, the design director of Duoltd – spotlighting that campy sort of spooky we only really celebrate one night in October.
