No 21: Menswear Spring/ Summer 2019

We all know (and hate) the worn-out image of a sexy schoolgirl, but what about the male version? Alessandro Dell’Acqua took Spring/ Summer 2019 as an opportunity to show what a cool, modern version of a boy’s uniform could look like. So, what’s the dress code at the No. 21 boarding school? Well, anything goes really. The shorts are short and made out of see-through vinyl, the shirts are barely buttoned, and Anna Wintour-esque crystal necklaces are part of the uniform too. Taking inspiration from the sunsets and cocktails of Cuba, Dell’Acqua took youthful tailoring ideas, stripped them back and made them even more relaxed, almost oozing laziness. But it wasn’t just all about the equatorial climate. The outerwear brought it back to the reality of a city life, with shiny leather coats being our clear favourites. Showing off their legs, arms and chests, the No 21 boys marched down the catwalk to the beat of Pat Benatar’s Love Is A Battlefield, a perfect representation of the rebellion and sensuality they embodied. These are the boys you want to hang out with. We’re only half way through the shows, but it’s safe to say that there’s a new sense of sexiness that has infiltrated the menswear world. And you won’t see us complaining…
