Richard Malone: Ready-To-Wear SS22

Amongst a beautiful collection of British treasures, Richard Malone presented his SS22 collection surrounded by Renaissance gems and Raphael Cartoons at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. It was a milestone for Malone, who for the first time, introduced menswear into his design lexicon.

This season, the designer explores the tension between good and bad taste whilst diving into the comfort we find in creativity. Exaggerated silhouettes were accompanied by deconstructed cuts whilst ruched detailing was set upon cut-out dresses, and tops that were inspired by horse rosettes that the designer used to craft as a child beside his grandmother. Hues of cobalt blue, bright orange and emerald green were splattered across split leather jackets, ruffled tops and sculptural swaths of fabric which have become Malone’s showstoppers.

The collection also marked the launch of a new collaboration between Richard Malone and British fashion titan Mulberry, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Maintaining Mulberry’s design aesthetic and heritage, Richard Malone grasped the label’s Bayswater and Darley bags and put his own sustainable spin on the classics. Each piece has been crafted using Eco Scotchgrain and Gold standard leather and has been doused in the collection’s accompanying tones, inspired by post-modern and 1970s design, which are available to shop right now. Whatcha waiting for?
