Stefan Cooke Designs Exclusive Knit for the Emergency Designer Network

Stefan Cooke know how to make a rather cracking knit. The design duo’s signature diamond cut-out jumpers sell like hotcakes, synonymous for their one-of-a-kind designs. Speaking of one-of-a-kind, Cooke and his partner Jake Burt have created an exclusive knit for Commuknitty – a fundraising network set up by Loop Studio, Knitster Ldn and Kaysha Sinclair, in aid of producing PPE equipment for hospitals across the country. “We love working with Knitster on our own collections and when they asked us to be a part of it we were really excited,” explain the duo. “We’ve been spending more time recently raising money for charity and this was another great cause.”

Alongside other London-based designers – including Ahluwalia and Daniel W. Fletcher – the brand have produced a one-of-one piece that is currently up for grabs at Commuknitty’s charity auction. In signature Stefan Cooke style, the blue argyle piece comes slashed at the arms and at the chest – “our inspiration came from some classic golf jumpers we had seen whilst researching. It felt right to add slits into the argyle design,” say the pair. All profits from the sale will be donated to the Emergency Designer Network, an organisation led by designers Phoebe English, Bethany Williams and Holly Fulton who have assembled a group volunteers to produce scrubs for hospitals and care homes.

The duo has been keeping busy during the lockdown, moving their studio out of London to continue working. “With the pressure of LFWM in June taken away, we have been focusing on making sure our AW20 season is being produced at the highest quality,” they explain. “Creatively we have had more space to think clearly and work in a more focused, organised way.” The pair has also supported the black lives matter movement by selling three of their signature cut-out sweaters in an exclusive navy colourway, where all profits were donated to the Black Visions Collective.

Commuknitty’s charity auction takes place until July 5 here.
