Stone Island: The Cap
According to an expert on all matters sartorial, discovered in the depths of Google, “One of the most egregious fashion trends of the past 15 to 20 years has been the proliferation of baseball caps – not just in the United States, but now across much of the world. What began as a harmless exercise in showing support for one’s favourite local baseball club has mushroomed into something so gargantuan that I fear baseball caps will never vanish from the sartorial landscape.” This “disturbing” trend was first noticed by our writer “friend” in the ’90s, on the head of Spike Lee. Since then it has become a symbol of “society’s seemingly permanent deterioration; like dreadful reality-TV shows, junk food, horrid Hollywood movies and declining education standards”. Just like those “wretched cell phones” that came after. To which we say, “Bollocks.” Are we living in a land where apes rule the earth and so the need for accessories does not exist? No. As Ferris Bueller would say, “Life moves pretty fast, so move with it.” In fact, just get yourself a Stone Island baseball cap. With this on your head, you are a contributor to the decline of modern civilisation, and who doesn’t want to go to hell in a hand basket? Hell looks fun. Plus a cap will protect your hair from singeing when the flames rise too high.
