Thom Browne: Menswear AW17
What better way to spend the penultimate show of Paris, and, in fact, menswear month in general, than with a dose of Thom Browne wackiness? Because this, his AW17 show, answered the important question of: what, exactly, do you get when you cross a businessman, two-seater sofa and a large horse? Because this began with a stream of grey-clad suited men, studded all over with upholstery style buttons and finished off with, well, hooves. Big leather hooves. Why? We’re not sure. Nor care. We’re too busy having multiple fantasies about stomping around Soho in a pair. From there the tailoring became these amazing cubist sculptures, pieced together from 2D structured tailored blocks. And all complete with cyborg-like matching felt helmets and trailing shirts with XXL sleeves. Bonkers and brilliant.
