Undercover And Takahiromiyashita The Soloist Are This Year’s Guest Designers At Pitti Uomo
Something happening in January that isn’t wholly depressing. Not depressing at all, actually – and really rather exciting – news has reached HQ this morning that Japan will be landing in Florence, with the announcement that this year’s Pitti Uomo guest designers will be Undercover and Takahiromiyashita The Soloist. Both Japanese powerhouses will reveal their AW18 collections with back-to-back runway shows this January 11th, following in the footsteps of last year’s designers Jonathan Anderson and Virgil Abloh.
The runway show will mark something of a second coming for Jun Takahashi, founder and creative director of Undercover, who previously showed his menswear collection at the Florentine trade show back in 2009, while for Takahiro Miyashita, this will be his first ever show outside of Japan. Quite the baptism. In other Pitti-based news, Brooks Brothers will host their very first runway show at the city’s Palazzo Vecchio, as well as hosting a special brand retrospective. And we’re sure there will be more announcements to come – stay tuned.
