Drop everything – mere moments ago, the BFC announced the recipients of NEWGEN MEN sponsorship for AW16. And there’s ten of them. Which is a good number, I think you’ll agree? So, who are the lucky (and very talented) boys and girls to be bestowed with the honour? Well – there’s plenty of familiar faces – Agi & Sam, Alex Mullins, Astrid Andersen, Bobby Abley, Cottweiler, Craig Green, Diego Vanassibara, Nasir Mazhar and PIETER will all return for another season and will this time joined by newbie Liam Hodges, who comes fresh from showing as part of Fashion East’s MAN. All the designers will receive a much appreciated cash boost, alongside business mentorship from the best in the industry. Like a very fashionable episode of The Apprentice. “The calibre of design talent coming through the NEWGEN MEN award is testament to the incredible strength of menswear design out there right now,” said Jason Griffiths, Marketing Director of TOPMAN, who sponsor the award. Caroline Rush, head of the BFC concurred – “NEWGEN MEN is widely recognised as a key incubator for talented young menswear designers. Each of the ten recipients uniquely represents the diverse and robust position of London and the UK within the global menswear market.” Ten Towers is primed and ready (and salivating at the mouth, quite frankly) at what they’ll all present come January. The countdown to menswear season begins!
