Billy Porter Was London Fashion Week’s MVP – These are 10 of His Best Looks
We like to pride ourselves on working really hard, especially during London Fashion Week. First ones to come, last ones to leave, and always making sure we give it our all. If there ever was an award for it, we’d definitely have a shelf-full of trophies. But we finally had some competition this past LFW in the “Working Hard, Hardly Working” category. And no, we’re not talking about Xtina’s style comeback. First stunning in the frow of Halpern’s SS20 show, Broadway legend and star of FX’s Pose Billy Porter put his best foot forward. And bag, hat, sunglasses, coat, dress… Porter brought the kind of drama that already got us yaaaas-ing at the Oscars and the Met Ball earlier this year. Old Hollywood glam meets clubkid realness – all starring the work of London’s best designers, as styled by Sam Ratelle.
Honouring the secret code of wearing the work of the designer whose show he’s attending, Porter wore a rainbow brocade coat by Halpern to Halpern. Ashish sequins to Ashish, and some Jackie O drag à la VB to the Vicky B show. Changing literally every hour with a 10am start, we like to imagine Porter driving around London in a people carrier overflowing with tulle, ruffles and hats. A LOT of hats. Actually, if we had to find a lesson to take away from this masterful performance in street style it would be the following: all you need is a rich coat and a fun hat. Oh, and the grandiose personality of Billy Porter. Bravo darling, bravo!
