TAKE A LOOK AT THE CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC AW18 CAMPAIGN

Back in January, Raf Simons showed us everything we needed to see. After last season’s cowboy eleganza, his AW18 collection for Calvin Klein 205W39NYC was all about a new, futuristic vision of the American dream. The Raf version of Apollo 11-ready attires included foiled dresses, crocheted balaclavas, and hi-reflective outerwear. It was a mix of old and new, tradition and modernity; a mix that redefined trends for the season. Now, thanks to Raf Simons’ long-term collaborator Willy Vanderperre, this important moment in fashion is being captured for the world to enjoy. The Belgian photographer created a visual fantasy that goes beyond the idea of clothes hanging on a rack in one of Calvin Klein’s stores and proved – yet again – what the power of a great campaign really does. Transporting us into a world far, far away, Vanderperre captured the usual CK gang (think Liya Kebede, Julia Nobis, Erin O’Connor and Luca Lemaire) in an undisclosed location which could easily be any landscape of outer space. The new highlight is the cat-eye eyewear that obviously draw from the 1960s vision of the future – Pierre Cardin, Courréges and Judy Jetson. In the words of the legendary Arthur Russell, this is how we walk on the Moon
