Giorgio Armani Releases Their AW16 Campaign
Would we consider this, as Natalie does, a take on the classic studio portraiture of Hollywood’s Golden Age? Yes. We would. Perhaps it’s the black-and-white palette, the perfectly lit faces or those “subtly introspective” (according to the press release) expressions on the model’s faces. Or maybe it’s just that kind of Charlie Chaplin-y hat. Either way, Mert and Marcus (who lensed the AW16 campaign) have created stars. Stars, I tell you. Beautiful, Giorgio Armani-clad stars – a selection box of modern Crawfords, Garbos, Monroes. And have thus, in the process, proved that all you need for a great campaign is a handful of aesthetically blessed models, fabulous lighting, some rather nice clothes and a stool. Gorge.
