Givenchy To Skip Men’s Runway Show This Season

More fashion happenings this AM – according to WWD, Claire Waight Keller, who was announced as Givenchy’s brand new Creative Director in March, will not be showing a men’s collection at this June’s upcoming Men’s Paris Fashion Week. Instead, Givenchy will be hosting an intimate showcase of their Spring 2018 collection, designed not by Claire but an in-house team, to buyers at their own swanky showroom in Paris from the 27th June to July 1st. Unlike her predecessor Riccardo Tisci, who favoured showing couture alongside his men’s show, Keller has chosen to show her first couture collection in January 2018. Her debut collection, though, will be shown this October at fashion week, Waight Keller choosing to make her first mark on the house with a women’s ready-to-wear collection. “She has this great ability to break the rules and innovate without making a revolution,” said Givenchy’s chief executive officer Philippe Fortunato this morning. “Her very focused approach will help the brand in building the ongoing momentum we have — and taking it to the next level” Roll on October!
