HOWL Is The New 14-Hour Queer Rave Coming to London’s Tottenham this Saturday
It’s not breaking news that London’s queer party scene is falling victim to the gruelling gentrification swallowing the capital nightlife. It’s estimated that over half of London’s queer nightclubs have already shut down within the last ten years. With more and more legendary gay nightlife epicentres closing their doors to make way for glass box flats, it’s now more than ever that we need new LGBTQ+ start-ups spearheading the next generation of queer nightlife with striking furiosity.
That’s where Howl comes in. Led by the team behind arts project CAMPerVAN and club night Bump, the queer collective is launching a day-to-night, 14-hour “queer city” which will celebrate multidisciplinary queer artists from all fields. The queer safe-space launches at Grow this Saturday, at one of the ex-engineering depots circling Tottenham Hale tube station. Sitting next door to The Cause, both fresh-faced venues have become home to some of the most important late nights the city has to offer, including the monthly Adonis and the one-off revival of PDA. This weekend it’s Howl’s turn, with panel talks, spoken word live acts and plenty performance art morphing into a night of blistering techno meets happy hardcore. Well-known and loved DJ collectives Opulence and Kaos are leading the bill in the sweat-drenched bunker room. So, fix yourself to this Saturday; taking a trip on the Victoria Line to a day and night of busting out your best moves and maybe even the chance of copping off, all in the name of keeping London’s queer nightlife alive and kicking.
HOWL takes place this Saturday at Grow, Tottenham Hale. You can buy discounted tickets through the FEELD app.
