Kim Jones’ First Campaign For Dior Menswear is Here
New dawn, new day, new fashion campaign. As soon as Kim Jones’ debut at Dior unravelled back in June, it was clear that that a big change has come. High-end tailoring infused with elements of Kim’s signature streetwear elements, all very much influenced by the French fashion house’s rich heritage. In a move towards a different take on luxury, the worlds of Dior’s menswear and womenswear never seemed so in-tune. Logo prints, chunky jewellery and soft colours formed a poetic tale of a contemporary wardrobe that any man could dip into in order to find something for himself.
One of the most memorable moments from the Dior Menswear SS19 show was the set, created in collaboration with American artist Brian Donnelly better known as Kaws. One of his BFF figurines was recreated as a massive floral centrepiece, dressed in a classic black suit, representing Monsieur Christian Dior’s presence within the show. As the models walked around it, the stories of past, present and future got together like a puzzle. Now, lensed by Steven Meisel, the brand’s campaign for SS19 is recreating that major moment of the men’s fashion week season. Kaws interpretations of Monsieur Dior are surrounding the models clad in the soft pastels, bee-printed denim, Dior monogram hi-tops and more. Like a fairy godfather, he’s looking after all that rejoice in the beautiful fashions created by Kim Jones. So major, and it’s only the beginning…
