Fashion is a magical thing. We all know that. It’s why we love what we do, as much as we do. How do you think Jackie Kennedy became so adored? How does one know which social clique to attach oneself to at school? How does one justify a month’s wages on a single shoe that’s not remotely comfortable or practical? The point is magic. Magic and fashion. The two are here synergised by Loewe via their AW18 Men’s collection, lensed by American photographer Duane Michals, who is, after all, somewhat of an authority on magic, given his brilliant Magic Mirror of Uncertainty series. Google it – he brought quantum physics to French Vogue for God’s sake!
For Loewe though, and more specifically their AW18 collection, he has shot model Erik Frey together with British actor and Loewe campaign star Josh O’Connor, as they gaze into crystal balls, wave wands about and generally look quite magical in new season Loewe at the Teatro Reina Victoria in Madrid. The clothes? Well, that’s the real magic of course, and (apologies in advance for this) this year, Loewe have really pulled the rabbit out of the hat. Plenty of shearling, woollen checks and a smattering of rope-twine adornments, this is one you’ll be wanting to see again.
