We never need an excuse to shout about Martin Parr. Thank the art gods then, that there are Parr-approved pics aplenty at “Strange and Familiar” Barbican’s latest, an exhibition of photographs curated by the man himself. Who said us boys can’t multitask, eh? And, being as we are HUGE fans of Martin Parr’s work, we trust that his taste in other photographers will be just as fabulous.
The theme is Britain, Britain is all its weird glory – ordinary people doing ordinary things, seen through the eyes of foreign photogs – “the exhibition will reveal a very different take on British life than that produced by British photographers. It is both familiar and strange at the same time,” Mr Parr said. Think of it as an homage – one photographer to many more. Or a big bite of nourishing culture pie. It’s on now.
